Charity Knitting Group
Join us in the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30 PM as we "Knit for Charity".
When our group formed, we had 5 members. Now we have 13 members and are still growing! We work thru the Middlesex Hospital and have made pink scarves for breast cancer patients, chemo caps, newborn and preemie caps, finger puppets for children who have blood drawn from a finger, and serenity shawls.
We also knit for Haddam Public Health and for the VFW. We make warm scarves for those who need them and hats to be worn under helmets for our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In a letter to the Charity Knitting Group, Kathryn H. Kearns, Director of the Middlesex Hospital Volunteer Services, wrote, "The scarves, baby hats, hand puppets and shawls are just beautiful and add to a feeling of well being for our patients. The workmanship and variety of color is wonderful and much appreciated by all who have seen them. Our patients, new babies and mothers are especially thrilled when they find they are able to go home with these thoughtful gifts. ...We are truly blessed to have such caring and talented people in our community."
If you're unable to join us on the first Tuesday of the month, stop in any other time that we're open. We'll be happy to provide you with patterns and knitting directions. We will happily accept your donations. For more information, call us at 860-345-2204.
